| Abstract | : | The future time orientation (FTO) developed by Gjesme(1979) was translated into Japanese and modified to suit the local situation. The adapted 15 item scale was tried out with 143 fifth grade children in an elementary school in Okinawa, Japan. From the results of factor analysis, FTO test revealed 5 factors, Involvement, Anticipation, Occupation, Speed, and Present. In general, correlations between FTO sub-scales and achievement tests were low. Multiple regression analysis showed that the efficiency of FTO sub-scales was also poor. |
