Abstract :The importance of transit program from preschool to elementary school for young children with disabilities is being emphasized. However, the systematic study on the details and collaboration system of the transit program is not sufficient in Korea. In this study, it is intended to present such transit program required in the future by checking the actual conditions of the transit programs of the Inclusive Day Care Centers for Children with Disabilities and comprehending both the teacher's and the parents' needs in Korea. The research indicates that only three of five Inclusive Day Care Centers responding the investigation are running the transit programs and even their contents stay in the level of consulting the parents about the matter of entering the higher educational stage, the elementary school teacher's visiting home and the parents' observing the class in an elementary school, etc. On the other hand, it turns out from the research on the teacher's and the parents' needs for the transit program that forming the basic life skills, developing the classroom adaptive and social skills and the teachers' collaborating with other teachers are necessary. The systematic study for developing the transit program and its manual from preschool to elementary school needs to be conducted in the future.
