Abstract | : | In this paper, I investigate George Howell's view on the socialism and the reason that made him oppose the socialism. As a results I come to following conclusions. 1. He regarded the British parliamentary democracy as the most developed form of government and the socialism as inferior one. So, He did'nt find no necessity of progress to socialism 2. He thought that it wasn't realistic that to treat the skilled worker and unskilled one equally. So, according to him Marxism is unrealistic religion. 3. Collected Self-Help was better way than the increase of state inntervention to improve the life of working classes. But his idea of Self-Help is unique. because he estimate not only working class mutual help by co-op and benefits of trade unions but also working men's political activity to get political equality and improve the living enviroments as Self-Help. |
