Abstract :Recent active researches have discovered a large number of brachyuran new species and newly recorded species from Okinawa and Japan. Unfortunately, the habitats of these species have often been decreased due to human activities. Taxa are usually addressed by standard Japanese names in public, non-professional cases in Japan, and it is important to provide such names to enhance conservation activities of private and government groups. The present paper proposes standard Japanese names for seven brachyuran species, viz. Alox uru Naruse & Ng, 2006, Arcania cornigera Naruse, 2014, Arcania tropicalis Naruse, 2014 (Leucosiidae), Kume tigra Naruse & Ng, 2012 (Portunidae), Takedactylus masatsunei Naruse & Maenosono, 2012 (Aphanodactylidae), Indopinnixa kumejima Naruse & Maenosono, 2012, and Indopinnixa oryza Naruse & Maenosono, 2012 (Pinnotheridae). The generic name of Alox Tan & Ng, 1995, is reconsidered, and new Japanese names for the genera Indopinnixa Manning & Morton, 1987, Kume Naruse & Ng, 2012, and Takedactylus Naruse & Maenosono, 2012, are also provided.
