As a result of research on the process of introduction of Citrus unshiu var. praeox TANAKA to Okinawa district and the ecology, the following have been proved. 1. C. u. var. praeox TANAKA was introduced in to Okinawa district as a mere sample in after 1950. Since 1966,however, the citrus has been reguraly planted as an industry. 2. In the case of the trees not bearing fruit, new shoots come out four or five times per year in Ishigaki and Ishikawa cities, while the trees bearing fruit in the both areas have new shoots two or three times per year. Of those new shoots, fourth ones can be bearing shoots the next year without fruit in Ishigaki; the third, in Ishikawa. In the case of the trees with fruit, the second new shoots can be bearing shoots in the both areas. 3. In the normal year, the blooming season falls in mid-March in Ishigaki; early in April in Ishikawa. The season, however, may be reversed about ten day in accordance with the temperature in the winter or the nutritive condition of the trees. 4. The bearing fruit rate is changeable according to the rain fall from the budding time to physiological fruit drop time. The rate considerably drops when it rains much. 5. The havest time, when the fruits picked should have a soluble solid of 8 or more percent and a citric acid of 1.5 or lesser percent, is mid-July to mid-Au-gust in Ishigaki; in Ishikawa; late in July to early in September.
