Abstract :This paper aims at examining what School Trips to Okinawa should be for tourism promotors by focusing on the possibilities that School Trips to Okinawa may not contribute to promoting repeat visitation. “Seasonality” is one of the challenges of Okinawa Tourism, from the perspective of sustainable tourism industry, including revenue and employment. In addition, while the number of repeat visitors already exceeds 80%, both the number of first time visitors and ratio are decreasing. According to Tourism Areal Life Cycle (TALC) theory, it can be labeled “repeat visitor dependence.” These can be considered as some of the major challenges of Okinawa Tourism. Under these circumstances, it is assumed that School Trips to Okinawa are an effective measure, not only for mitigating seasonality, but also for contributing to attracting first time visitors and repeat visitors. In this paper, we examined the ideal form of a School Trip, by discussing how to maintain the revisiting intention of participants, and who should play a key role of coordinating ideal schemes through the hypothesis verification, based on the analysis of both travel agents and participantsʼ viewpoint.
