This is a letter of request by Chin, Kai and others who drifted ashore Uehara Village, Iriomote Island from Tongan Quanzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province in 1785. According to the contents, Chin, Kai and Rin, Kyou have been drifting at sea in a waterchest but Rin, Kyou has passed away before reaching Iriomote Island. The letter asks for clothes and a coffin to be given to Rin, Kyou as well as a burial. They also requested for the metal nails to be returned after the waterchest has been burnt. Written on 27 December, 1785. The addressee was most probably the Yaeyama Kuramoto.
